Understand the key terms used in Apploye’s Time & Activity features and reports.

Active Time

The portion of tracked time during which Apploye detects keyboard or mouse activity.

Activity Level

A percentage that represents the level of keyboard and mouse activity detected during tracked time.

Activity Percentage

The percentage of activity detected during a specific tracked period. Apploye calculates it based on keyboard and mouse activity.

Activity Tracking

Apploye’s system for measuring keyboard and mouse activity while a team member is tracking time. It does not record the actual content of keystrokes.

Idle Time

Idle Time is when no keyboard or mouse activity is detected for longer than the configured threshold. By default, Apploye considers 5 minutes of inactivity as idle time.

Neutral Time

Tracked time during which Apploye does not detect keyboard or mouse activity but the inactivity has not exceeded the configured idle-time threshold.

Manual Time

Time manually added by a team member instead of being recorded through the Apploye timer.

Tracked Time

The total amount of time recorded by Apploye while a team member is tracking time.

Time Entry

An individual record of tracked or manually added work time, including details such as date, duration, project, and task.

Time & Activity Report

A report that provides an overview of team members’ tracked time and activity for a selected period.

Apps Activity

Information about the applications used by a team member during tracked time, including the time spent on each application.

URL Activity

Information about websites visited during tracked time, including the time spent on each URL.

Screenshot Activity

Activity information associated with screenshots captured during tracked time, including activity levels and the corresponding tracked period.

Activity Interval

A specific period used by Apploye to measure and display activity data.

Decimal Time

A time format that represents hours as decimal values. For example, 1 hour and 30 minutes is represented as 1.50 hours.

Worked Time

The amount of time recorded as work for a team member during a selected period.

Idle-Time Threshold

The amount of continuous inactivity required before Apploye classifies a period as idle time.

Time Tracking

The process of recording the amount of time a team member spends working on projects and tasks using Apploye.

Timesheet

A record or view of a team member’s tracked work time, organized by date and time period.

Screenshot

An image captured from a team member’s computer during tracked time according to the organization’s screenshot settings.

Apps & URLs

An Apploye feature that records application and website usage during tracked time, helping managers understand how work time is being spent.

Activity Data

Information collected by Apploye about activity during tracked time, such as activity percentage, active time, neutral time, idle time, screenshots, apps, and URLs.

Active Time vs. Neutral Time vs. Idle Time

These terms describe different types of tracked time:

  • Active Time: Keyboard or mouse activity is detected.
  • Neutral Time: No keyboard or mouse activity is detected, but the idle threshold has not been reached.
  • Idle Time: Inactivity has exceeded the configured idle-time threshold.

Neutral time does not necessarily mean that a team member is not working. Activities such as meetings, reading, or reviewing information may involve little keyboard or mouse activity.
